4 Outdoor Activities You Can Drive to Near Odessa, TX

Picnic in Floyd Gwin Park

This well-kept 52-acre park has excellent facilities and large pavilions that shade many comfy picnic tables and benches. It’s a very comfortable place to relax and eat out in the fresh air, close to nature. 

The park is a wonderful place for children, with a sizable playground, climbing frames, and a zip line to keep them entertained. If you’re in a particularly energetic mood, there are basketball courts, soccer fields, and also an excellent swimming pool. You can find the park at 1015 North County Road West. 

Play Golf at Odessa Country Club

Another popular outdoor sport is golf, and Odessa has a few terrific courses to visit. One of the best is Odessa Country Club, located at 1 Fairway Drive. It’s a private member-owned, full-service country club providing two beautiful championship golf courses. 

You can play your way around the fairways and greens at a leisurely pace, enjoying the sunshine and lovely natural views. The club also has seasonal swimming pools, regular events, courteous staff, and a top-notch restaurant with outdoor seating. 

Camp at Park Place RV Park 

Consider escaping the home and spending a night or two under the stars at this great local RV park. At Park Place RV Park, the manager and staff go above and beyond to provide all visitors with a fantastic experience. The entire park and its amenities are consistently well-maintained, and you can expect any issues to be resolved promptly. 

There’s a spacious social clubhouse to relax in with a pool table and other entertainment. There’s also a playground for children. You can drive there in your new 2023 Honda Pilot EX-L 7-Passenger which has an AWD towing power of 5,000 pounds, enough for a very comfortable travel trailer. Visit the Sibley Nature Center

If you’d like to hike along nature trails while learning about regional Texan flora and fauna, take a short 10-mile drive up the road into neighboring Midland to visit the Sibley Nature Center. This excellent nature center showcases a variety of regional plant life and wildlife, with educational exhibits and optional tours. 

The nature center offers a perfect adventure into nature and a break from the sights, sounds, and business of the city. You can find it at 1307 East Wadley Avenue.
