2023 Honda Civic
The Civic remains one of the most popular models in the compact sedan segment. It's been part of the Honda lineup for more than 50 years and continues to beat out its competitors in a range of categories.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2023 Honda Civic is available in two main body styles, sedan and hatchback. It underwent a full redesign for the 2022 model year, showcasing enhanced features both inside and out. The sedan comes in 4 trim levels: Sport, EX, Touring, and Si, while the hatchback trim comes in Sport, EX-L, and Sport Touring. The Sport trim tacks on 18-inch alloy wheels and remote keyless entry. Both the EX and EX-L trims include 17-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, and heated front seats. Choose the Touring or Sport Touring trim to get larger alloy wheels, automatic windshield wipers, and fog lights. The Si sedan is the sportiest of the four, featuring larger brakes, 18-inch black-painted wheels with high-performance tires, a sport-tuned suspension, and a limited-slip front differential.
Engine (Power)
Both the sedan and hatchback base Sport model comes standard with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque. It works with a continuously variable transmission that powers the front wheels. If you want more power, the EX and EX-L models come with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that pumps out 180 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The Si trim has an upgraded version of this engine that's rated at 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque. It works with a six-speed manual transmission that includes rev-matching downshifts.
Performance
No matter which trim level you choose, you'll appreciate the responsive powertrain and quick acceleration of the 2023 Civic. With the turbocharged engine, the sedan went from zero to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds, putting it near the top of its segment. Sporty handling and smooth braking round out the effortless driving experience offered by this popular model.
Interior
With the base trim, you get cloth upholstery, keyless entry and ignition, a partially digital instrument panel, and automatic climate control. Standard tech features include a four-speaker sound system, a 7-inch touch screen, and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration.
If you want a more comfortable cabin, consider upgrading to one of the higher trim levels. Options include leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. You can also upgrade the tech with features such as wireless device charging, a 9-inch touch screen, navigation, a premium Bose sound system, and rear USB ports.
Safety Features
Across the board, the 2023 Civic includes Honda Sensing, a suite of advanced active driver aids. It bundles lane-keeping assist, a rearview camera, forward-collision mitigation, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, and adaptive cruise control. Additional options include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors.
